Use a password manager, or keep a written list in a safe place at home. Both are better than using the same password everywhere.
Option 1: a password manager
This is an app that remembers your passwords for you. Your phone or computer may already have one built in. You remember one strong password. It remembers the rest.
Option 2: a paper notebook
A notebook kept at home, away from the computer, works well for many people. Don’t carry it in your bag. Don’t write the word passwords on the cover.
Making better passwords
- Join three or four random words together. They’re long, but easier to remember.
- Use a different password for each important account.
- Turn on two-step sign-in for email and banking when it’s offered.
